Hi there! I'm a painter living and working in San Francisco and I paint skyscapes of the places I travel to and the neighborhoods I live in to celebrate the majesty and mystery of the natural world and to keep me out of the doldrums.

Over the past 21 years, I’ve lived in eight San Francisco neighborhoods. Now in the Outer Richmond, I’ve been painting the views from my walks around Sutro Park, Lands End, Golden Gate Park, The Sunset, and Ocean Beach.

 

I start most of my paintings outside, trying to capture the way the light changes the colors of the fog and clouds moving through the neighborhood and the wallop of awe I feel. ​And I hope whoever sees my paintings feels a bit of it too because we all need a little wonder right now.

So far, I've illustrated the books Letters and Postcards from Paris and The Best Women's Travel Writing (Volume 12), and essays for Hidden Compass.

I've also taught painting classes and workshops for the past 17 years to students of all ages and skill levels. I'm going to be offering a plein air painting class in The Outer Richmond this fall, and I'll announce details on my Substack newsletter. So please sign up if you aren't already!

 

I'm co-teaching a painting and writing retreat with the incredible Lavinia Spalding in Yelapa, Mexico again with the fabulous Deep Travel Workshops. November 11-18, 2026.

 

Also I'm co-teaching (with Lavinia) through Studio Unfurl (a year-long, online creativity workshop and community with an in-person retreat). You can get on the waiting list for next year if you're interested.
